Times have changed…

I know these are trying times for all of us. Our world, not just our own country, is now in “lock-down.”  Never even imagined something like this could happen.

I have been debating what to do for the next month or so. I’ve spent so much time crafting and playing with newer products for so long, well, now I think I owe it to myself and my husband to get our home put back in order. So, this will be my last blog for the time being.

Before I close down, thought I would share this poem by Donna Ashworth.

History will remember when the world stopped
And the flights stayed on the ground
And the cars parked on the street
And the trains didn’t run.

History will remember when the schools closed
And the children stayed indoors
And the medical staff walked towards the fire
And they did not run.

History will remember when the people sang
On their balconies, in isolation
But so much together
In courage and song.

History will remember when the people fought
For their old and weak
Protected the vulnerable
By doing nothing at all.

History will remember when the virus left
And the houses opened
And the people came out
And hugged and kissed
And started again

Kinder than before.

Thank you for all your support during this world situation.
Please stay safe.
God Bless You and Yours

LAYERED CARD FRONTS FOR DIFFERENT SIZED ENVELOPES

These are just my suggested, personal guidelines – could be altered to your use. I show  a ¼” reduction per layer. Some will go to 1/2” reduction. Just have fun –remember to make the layers your design.

For 6.5” square envelope – use 12”x12” cardstock cut to 6”x12” – fold to 6” Square
          Squared Layers:    5 ¾”
                                       5 1/2”
                                      5 ¼”
                                      5”

For 4 ¾” x 6 ½” envelope –use 8 ½” x 11” cardstock, cut to 9”x 6 ¼” - then fold to 4 ½” x 6 ¼”
          Layers:        4 ¼” v 6”
                             4” x 5 ¾”
                             3 ¾” x 5 ½”
                             3 ½” x 5 ¼”

For 4 3/8”x5 ¾” envelope –use 8 ½” x 11” cardstock, cut 4 ½” x  5 ½” - then fold to 4 ¼” x 5 ½”
          Layers:        4” x 5 ¼”
                             3 ¾” x 5”
                             3 ½” x 4 ¾”
                             3 ¼” x 4 ½”

I think this will give you the idea.
·        Measure your envelope.
·        Use cardstock for the base card. Cut so as the finished base card is at least ¼” smaller than envelope front.
·       Layers should be at least ¼” smaller than base.
·        Each additional layer should be at least another ¼” smaller than previous layer.

For me, being consistent with my reductions has helped the overall appearance. Each of us has our own ideas and preferences for making our “celebration” cards.

Play with your ideas. Check out other sources for ideas, then create your own.

Well, that is it for today. I hope this has given you some ideas or at least, food for thought.

Till next time,

May God Bless and Watch Over You and Yours.
